Supporting Our Community
We are supporting our first annual community Christmas Toys and Clothing Drive to support women and children affected by trauma, violence and abuse. According to Domestic Violence Statistics, 1 in 4 (24.3%) women have been a victim of physical violence from their partner and 1 in 7 (13.8%) men have been abused. We all have known a person in our family that have experienced domestic violence in their lifetime. We can come together as a community to support these victims.
According to the World Health Organization, about 70% of people globally will experience a traumatic event in their life. And that's a significant number when you think about it because it's more than half of the population on Earth.
There's also the aspect of religious trauma that affects people worldwide and they suffer from nightmares, anxiety, shame, depression, fear and stress. According to a study conducted by the Global Center of Religious Research, religious trauma has grown to 37% of the U.S. conservative population. As a result, I have personally suffered through religious trauma as a former Jehovah's Witness by suffering through anxiety, fear, stress and nightmares. In addition, I experienced childhood trauma, so supporting the community and taking care of myself both physically and mentally has been a priority of mine. I also have found Jesus, so becoming a Christian has been the best thing that ever happened to me. I feel really blessed right now.
Having candle making turn into a business from a hobby has been a dream come true and if I can make a difference in a person's life by supporting them monetarily by donating money to charity, I would feel truly blessed. These women and children deserve the best and nobody should ever go through trauma in their life, so providing them with clothing and toys for the children would be a huge blessing.
You can drop any clothing and toys to Family Violence Prevention Services, Inc in San Antonio or purchasing a candle from us to help a family in need.
Any purchase from our candle sales this month will be donated to Family Violence Prevention Services, Inc. to benefit women and children in shelters need located in San Antonio, Texas.
